Join us for a fun, informal, interactive and informative series of community conversations over your lunch hour. Each session will feature an identified big topic or an interesting aspect of Calgary Chinatown and its culture, like food, arts, youth, storytelling, and more. We will leave lots of time to discuss, and share ideas and stories! Meet This is for anyone with an interest in Calgary Chinatown, and who wants to discuss the experiences, culture and opportunities of this unique community. Artists, young professionals, entrepreneurs, seniors, students or everyone who’s curious and eager to learn! Learn Episode #2: The State of the Arts Is it important for Chinatown to be known as a site of artistic production, consumption and traditions? What would this take to achieve? What are the opportunities for arts and culture? What programming, spaces, and (micro)grants are available and are needed? Guest Speakers Our panel of speakers will include local artists and cultural professionals. We will also be joined by a member of The City of Calgary’s arts and culture team to talk about current micro-grants for community-initiated art projects and activities. More details coming soon!
