Archived January 5, 2022 Volunteers & Artists Come and join Springboard Performance at our Northern Lights event held on both February 26 and 27, 2022 at containR Art Park in association with Chinook Blast, the Parks Foundation, and RISE UP Calgary! The weekend will be a celebration of the winter season and the incredible arts community in Calgary with an array of light installations, choirs and curated soundscapes, a winter market, firepits, warm beverages, and a community built snow-sculpture garden. We encourage community members and professional artists both to get involved in one of four ways! Take a look at the calls below to see how you can get involved with Northern Lights at containR this winter season. Springboard is looking for: Professional artist lighting installations. Community member lighting installations. Sound artist/musician winter Soundscapes. What you need to know: There will be a $500 artist fee for artists/groups who are selected to build installations. Springboard will provide $300 to offset the cost of materials. Artists would need to be available to install and troubleshoot any tech requirements during the week prior to the event. We encourage applying artists to consider how their piece centres sustainability as well as upcycled/found materials. Springboard is also looking for volunteers for the event! Northern Lights at containR is also in need of volunteers to help execute the event smoothly. If you’ve been curious about what we do at Springboard and are interested in getting involved, consider applying for a volunteer position during this two day illumination extravaganza at containR Art Park. What you need to know: The volunteer dates would be February 26 and 27, 2022, or during installations unfolding earlier that week. Volunteer responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to: installation security, set-up/take down, fire attendants, vendor support, and assisting with event flow. Volunteers for Northern Lights will also have the opportunity to volunteer during other year-round Springboard programming. For more information or to apply online, visit springboardperformance.com.
