Sound Diplomacy is thrilled to be conducting an economic impact assessment and music sector study in the cities of Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. This is an important piece of work, not just for Calgary and Edmonton, but for the global music industry. Both music sectors deliver economic and social benefits to the cities, and our aim will be to provide their stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the music sectors’ value in a place and the ecosystems that create such value. We also hope to identify what can be improved across the ecosystem, from a regulatory, planning and economic development framework. Survey for Artists, Music Industry Organizations, and Music Fans in Calgary and Edmonton Here are some instructions: You need to be based in Calgary, Edmonton or working in music there to participate. The survey covers a wide range of topics related to music creation and consumption, audience habits and professional opinions regarding the music ecosystem in Calgary and Edmonton. Depending on your role in the music ecosystem, it will take you between 10 and 20 minutes to complete it. If you don’t have time to finish in one sitting, you can save your responses and complete the survey later. The information you provide will be held in strict confidentiality by Sound Diplomacy and will only be used in aggregated form to assess the mapping and economic impact of the Edmonton and Calgary music ecosystem. Participants are encouraged to respond truthfully to identify their current challenges, including those that might identify patterns of inequality among demographics.
