Prashant Michael John
I am a musician who draws from any culture or genre in my compositions. My compositions in two dormant “cross-cultural world music” bands have received awards and nominations in the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Independent Music Awards, International Songwriting Competition and a few others. At the present, I perform in solo, duo, trio or larger band settings. I have recorded 4 albums, one of which received a Canada Council and FACTOR recording grant, with different musicians and styles in each. I pursue meaningful cross-cultural and cross-genre collaborations both in live and recording projects. in doing so I seek to expand/evolve as an artist along with the artistic community and Calgary communities at large.
