Guidelines: Arts for All 2014

The Arts for All Program supports the arts outside of Calgary’s downtown core, with a current focus on neighbourhoods in East Calgary.

The Greater Forest Lawn Project Grant provides grants of up to $10,000 to arts projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Community participation with the arts (e.g., opportunities to view or interact with art, community events or celebrations).
  • Learning opportunities for youth and adults through the arts.
  • Benefit to local businesses.

You can apply if you are an artist, collective or organization in one or more of these Greater Forest Lawn neighbourhoods:

  • Albert Park/Radisson Heights
  • Dover
  • Erin Woods
  • Forest Heights
  • Forest Lawn
  • Penbrook Meadows
  • Southview

If you are not from Greater Forest Lawn, you can apply if:

  1. Greater Forest Lawn artists, organizations or community members participate meaningfully in your project.
  2. Your project values diversity.

  • If English is not your first language and you need help writing the application, we can provide free language support.
  • If you need assistance filling out the online application, we can help you complete it on your computer.

Application Checklist

  • Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
  • The main type of art form you practice (visual arts, music, theatre, literary arts, dance, film/new media, multidisciplinary, other).
  • The neighborhoods your project involves.
  • A description of your project. What is it and where will it take place? Make sure to describe what someone interacting with your project will experience. (No more than 300 words.)
  • Your project’s goals. How does it meet one or more of the criteria listed above? (No more than 300 words.)
  • A timeline of your project’s important dates.
  • A budget for your project. List what items you would spend the grant money on and how much each item costs. List any other income you may have and where it comes from. The online application includes a budget sheet you must use and a help sheet to explain it.
  • Your artist statement(s) and resume(s)/CV(s) (for individuals and collectives only).
  • Your mandate and financial statements (for organizations only).
  • Support material related to your project such as text, images, audio or video (maximum size: 1MB each). You may combine multiple items in one sample, but it cannot take more than 10 minutes to review all material. You may use DOX and DOCX (text), PDF and JPG (images), and MP3 (audio) file types only. For video, please use a YouTube link.

Arts Space in Greater Forest Lawn

You may wish to use artBOX on 17E for your project. artBOX on 17E is a 3,300-sq.-ft. temporary presentation, production, performance, meeting and workshop space for the arts in East Calgary, located at 1807 42nd St. SE. Please contact Sharon Stevens at artboxon17E@gmail.com to find out about costs and timelines to include in your application. To learn more about artBOX, please attend a “Possibilities” meeting, held at artBOX on 17E every Tuesday at 10:30am. All are welcome, no RSVP required.
