Green Fools

Social Circus brings together diverse group of youth to spark a sense of belonging

“It makes me feel like I have somewhere to belong.”

Inspired by Canada 150, Calgary’s own Green Fools Theatre combined its Social Circus camps and theatre creation work to produce COU, A Circus of Unity.

“What’s beautiful about Social Circus is that you don’t have to speak English to understand,” says Dean Bareham, Artistic Director and Co-founder of Green Fools Theatre. “Visual learning is really key to this.”

Together with 13 seasoned theatre and circus artists, and 50 youth from multiple cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds, the production fused the voices of Canada’s youth to create a multimedia circus spectacular.
