Meet the artists and Elders behind the dinner and dialogue series, Aisinna'Kiiks
Artists were invited to join a group of elders for a dinner series, full of compassion, stories, and wisdom—and to create art described by that experience. What was the impact on the artists and how can art play a part on the journey to true reconciliation?
Under the guidance of Blackfoot Elder Saa’kokoto, Calgary Arts Development and the Calgary Board of Education launched the first Aisinna’kiiks dinner and dialogue series in 2017.
These gatherings brought Elders, educators, Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, and community leaders together to explore how the power of art can move us all closer towards reconciliation.
Observing National Indigenous History Month, we are pleased to share this very special episode of Living a Creative Life. Tune in as we share the stories of the artists and Elders behind Aisinna’Kiiks.
About the Living a Creative Life Web Series
As a salute to the thousands of Calgarians who are living creative lives, Calgary Arts Development launched this web series to celebrate creative living in our city.
The Living a Creative Life web series, hosted by local activist and comedian Adora Nwofor and produced by Bamboo Shoots, will release a new episode each month, featuring stories of Calgarians living creatively.
