Episode 54: Fairy Tales Queer Art & Film Festival
With Marissa Cupples, Shone Thistle and Adam Buck
In our latest Living a Creative Life web series, host Adora Nwofor introduces us to some of the people behind the Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival, now entering its 26th year.
Program director Marissa Cupples shares how the festival is celebrating and including more of the local queer arts community, and how inspiring it is to see how people’s art is received. Shone Thistle, executive director of the Queer Arts Society (and our new Calgary Poet Laureate) discusses the importance of providing an intersectional lens to showcase different artists and lived experiences in the festival’s programming — and how much fun the event is. Adam Buck of 88 Brewing Company explains why partnering with Fairy Tales was a natural progression, with both organizations working towards creating welcoming, inviting and safe spaces for everyone.
This city is alive with creativity, events and culture! Our Living a Creative Life web series showcases amazing Calgary creatives to find out what they’re up to and help you plan your social calendar. Who knows? You may even be inspired!
