#yycLCL October 2016
The series of paintings I’ve been working on are about negative body image. It’s become increasingly important for me to put these paintings in the public eye, as the reason I continue to develop this series is to contribute to a conversation about body image, its effects, and healing. The healing comes through knowing that, for those who struggle or have overcome, you are not alone in feeling the way you do. With my paintings I also help raise awareness for Calgary Silver Linings Foundation, a local organization that bridges gaps in accessibility and care of eating disorders in Alberta.
Through my studio practice, whether I’m painting, drawing or writing, I’m living a creative life. Art is a way for me to express myself, create purpose, and raise awareness for causes I care deeply about.
