#yycLCL October 2019

As a designer, letterer, artist and maker, I am passionate about paper, texture, lettering, and pattern. In the last year I created a new line of surface pattern design, which is featured on the covers of these notebooks shown.

This hand-drawn pattern collection is inspired by my love of vintage wallpaper, the fabulous tiles of Portugal, and my wonderfully weird garden. The designs embrace the rough lines of the pencil sketches, showing off a fresh and quirky charm, with a playful vintage twist.

For the creation of these notebooks, the patterns were printed on fabric, I amped up my bookbinding skills, and a sweet little line of one-of-a-kind notebooks were created.

Each coptic-stitch notebook has an original illustrated pattern on the cover, is printed on organic cotton fabric, has custom selected end sheets, carefully curated Irish linen thread colour, and has handbound exposed braided stitching. A lot of heart went into creating each and every book. A limited number of books were created for Sublime – True Craft, a fine craft artisan market that I co-founded.

DeAnne Bedier is an award-winning designer and an alumnus of the Alberta College of Art + Design, with a degree in visual communication design.

She runs a small creative studio as a full-time graphic designer and a part time artist, maker, and letterer.

DeAnne has an easy-going studio atmosphere and a strong passion for great design. If she’s not in-studio designing brands or drawing patterns, there’s a good chance she’s working on new lettering for her line of letterpress goods that she prints on her small but mighty antique printing press, named Bob.

In the rest of her spare time she draws, paints, prints, sews, and sometimes sleeps.
