Canada 150 logoOffering grants up to $15,000, the Calgary Foundation is accepting applications for the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th until September 1, 2016.

The Community Fund for Canada’s 150th is a national initiative and collaborative effort seeded by the Government of Canada and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast. The fund is matched and delivered locally by Canada’s 191 community foundations including the Calgary Foundation.

Canada’s sesquicentennial is a historic moment with the power to bring people and places together as we dream big about our communities and our country. In the spirit of this moment, the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th will activate a breathtaking array of ideas and activities that will bring out the best that Canada has to offer, now and for future generations.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible qualified donees operating within Canada may apply. (See Canada Revenue Agency listings at cra-arc.gc.ca/chrts-gvng)

A group that is NOT a qualified donee may partner with one to apply to the Fund and carry out the project together. In the case of such collaboration, the qualified donee would submit an application on behalf of the partnership.

When Can I Apply?

The Calgary Foundation will accept applications for the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th until September 1, 2016. Applicants will be notified of the results in late September 2016.

Use the three-part online application (application form, project budget, and matching contributions form). Apply at communityfoundations.ca.

Objectives of the Fund:

  • Encourage participation in community activities and events to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.
  • Inspire a deeper understanding about the people, places and events that shape our country and our communities.
  • Build vibrant and healthy communities with the broadest possible engagement of all Canadians, including indigenous peoples; groups that reflect our cultural diversity; youth; and official language minorities.

Eligible Projects:

  • Eligible projects must work towards the Fund’s objectives, be qualified donees based in Canada, and must take place in Canada.
  • Eligible projects must demonstrate an ability to match the value of the grant requested, through in-kind or cash contributions.
  • Eligible projects must commit to completing funded activities and expenditures before January 31, 2018.
