Original Peoples Investment Program
Oki everyone! This is an update on the work we are doing to build relationships with the First Nations/Métis/Inuit (FNMI) in Treaty 7:
- As promised, here is the job posting for a FNMI consultant to help us implement our Original Peoples Investment Program (OPIP). Please feel free to share the posting to whoever you think might be great for the role.
- If you’re not already familiar, OPIP is a program designed with and for the FNMI community—for more information see the draft guidelines.
- Since OPIP is now launching in early 2019, we continue to encourage any FNMI artists and groups in Treaty 7 that had projects they were seeking funding for in 2018 to contact us directly to discuss possibilities (grants@calgaryartdevelopment.com or 403.476.2031).
- We hope to host at least two more Community Circles before the year is out, one in October and one in November. These gatherings will be to further discuss and refine the OPIP process and to talk about the possibility of an event to celebrate the FNMI artistic community. Our intention is for these spaces to be hosted and lead by the FNMI community. Stay tuned for more information on dates and times.
So far we have received great feedback at all stages of this process and continue to welcome people to meet with us and share their thoughts. We love any questions or comments you might have. We look forward to continuing to learn and grow together. Stay warm!
