Welcome to our new website

Welcome to our new website! Our goal is to make our information and our programs as accessible as possible and we hope this will make it easier to find what you’re looking for — whether it’s opportunities for artists and organizations, feature stories about Calgarians who are living creative lives, or resources like our community directory and classifieds.

Over the past year, we have been working with our team at Calgary Arts Development, members of the arts community and the GOOD Company to create a new site that is better organized, less cluttered and more accessible. You will find the Accessibility Settings on the left side of the website, and a Language translation option in the top right corner.

In the menu on the left side of the page, you will also find direct links to information our website visitors are often looking for:

  • Need Help? Get Support — quick links to information about our website accessibility and translation options, our accommodations and assistance policies, and our community liaison.
  • Our Commitment to Equity — information and videos with ASL interpretation about our commitment to equity and EDIA journey.
  • Apply for Grants, Artist Calls & Funding — all funding opportunities in both our grant investments and public art departments, and a button to apply.
  • Sign Up for Our Newsletter — submit your email to receive our weekly newsletter, which is the way to stay up to date on our news, events and opportunities.

The last time we redesigned our website was more than seven years ago. A lot has changed since then, in our community and in our organization, including the transition of the city’s public art program to Calgary Arts Development. We are now responsible for commissioning new artworks, programming, building awareness and activating the civic collection — and you will see this reflected in the Public Art section of this website.

We have added community information and resources in our new Community Relations section, which will continue to expand. This section includes our 2023 – 2026 Strategic Framework.

You may notice we no longer have a ‘What’s On in Calgary’ section on this website. Instead, you can link directly from our home page to the same events listings and calendar on our yycwhatson.ca website. This is your one-stop source of information about the hundreds of arts and culture events taking place in Calgary — yes, there is always something to do here! And you can still submit your events as well. We will soon be moving our Free this Week column, Exhibitions monthly round-up and other previews to the YYC What’s On website as well.

Other content from the previous website has moved to different sections on the new site — for example, you’ll find our Community Directory and resources for finding or managing Spaces under News & Information. We also added a Blog where we will share information from Calgary Arts Development and the city’s arts community. If something you need has moved, we have a new and improved search option in the top left corner to help you find it.

If you have any problems with broken links or missing information, please email our communications team at news@calgaryartsdevelopment.com. While the launch of this new website is one part of our efforts to be as accessible as possible, the work is ongoing and we will continue to make improvements as we learn. If you have feedback about the website, please email Maureen McNamee, Communications Manager, at maureen.mcnamee@calgaryartsdevelopment.com.
