Cassandra Brown
I create paintings with an interest in our history, as told through folklore, fairy tales and myths. I am often exploring concepts of memory and cultural identity, how the sum of our values can be recorded in what we choose to remember or forget.
My subject matter is often influenced by nature, nostalgia and narrative, and while rendering with a convincing level of realism is important to my work, I tend towards exaggerated bright colours. I am content to paint figurative work and landscapes, or some meshing of the two.
