My painting is full of energy and movement and includes representational work, landscapes, and abstracts My abstract painting process is intuitive, and challenging, as there is no road map and it requires a great deal of layering and reflection to resolve. I enjoy the strength of wood panel or canvas surfaces to collage, scratch, make marks, apply photo transfers and glazes. As a retired social worker, I’m influenced by the complexities of people in environment, the contrasts and pushes and pulls we feel each day. I’m in awe of our beautiful rivers, animals, fresh air and mountains, and my photography often spurs my art, capturing differences, contrasts, unusual perspectives, shapes, colours and adventures. I have been so honoured to seek out opportunities to learn from Treaty 7 elders and community. Learning never ends in life or my art practice.
