Lenka Plaskonova (she/her/hers) was born and grew up in Slovakia, in a small town surrounded by beautiful woods and meadows. As a child she took piano and oboe lessons and she utilized her musical skills playing in musical bands.

Lenka holds a master’s degree in business management from the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia. She moved to Canada 20 years ago and she has over 15 years of accounting and administration experience in various industries including community cultural non-profit organizations. She volunteered for different organizations in Calgary before joining Calgary Arts Development. She is excited to be part of the Calgary Arts Development team to be able to support and give back to the arts community as she believes in the positive impacts of arts in people’s lives.

She is passionate about music and dance and she is a lifelong learner of different musical instruments. She is a co-founder and co-director of Slovak Folk and Cultural Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Slovak traditional culture within the Slovak-Canadian community in Calgary through performing folk songs, music, and dance.

Lenka loves spending quality time with her family. She loves cooking, biking around the city, knitting and crocheting, playing music or watching movies with her husband while enjoying a glass of red wine.
