The Project

The Calgary Public Art Guide is an interactive digital map showing the different forms of public art that shape our streets, parks and gathering spaces in every quadrant of the city. From large-scale murals and permanent sculptures, to temporary installations and community-led projects, the map makes it easy for people to explore artworks that bring life to our public spaces, as well as to share their own discoveries.
Featuring city-owned pieces from Calgary’s Public Art Collection, publicly funded and privately commissioned works, and grassroots community initiatives, the map includes photos of the artworks, artist bios and multimedia content that deepens the viewer’s experience. It offers a dynamic platform for Calgarians and visitors to discover, learn about and engage with public art in all its forms.
Developed by Built by Field, this guide is designed to increase access to public art, support local artists, and reflect the creativity and cultural richness of Calgary’s communities. Users can browse by location, type of artwork or theme — and even create custom self-guided tours. New artworks will continue to be added, and users are encouraged to share any additional artworks they discover, helping the guide grow as a living record of the city’s public art.
Tour some of the artworks and meet some of the artists featured in the Calgary Public Art Guide in our Living a Creative Life video with host Adora Nwofor.
