Artists and mentors announced for the 2025 Public Art for Sustainable Futures Residency

We are pleased to announce the participating artists and mentors for the Public Art for Sustainable Futures Residency. Running from June through September 2025, this four-month residency supports artists exploring the role of public art in advancing climate justice through research, experimentation and community engagement.

This year’s participating artists and collectives are:
Apiow Akwai
Bomi Yook
Justin Seiji Waddell
Kelly Andres
Mao and Chris
Mia + Eric
Morgan Possberg
Saeid Asgarian

The residency offers $25,000 in support to each participant, with a focus on process-based work rather than final outcomes. Artists will engage in studio visits, field trips, and workshops led by mentors Api’soomaahka, Charlene K. Lau, and Christina Battle, who bring deep experience in community-based, critical, and environmental art practices.
