RBC Emerging Artist Award The RBC Emerging Artist Award was established to recognize up-and-coming Calgary-based artists. The award recognizes that a thriving cultural community includes artists who choose to live and build their careers in Calgary from the outset. The intent of the award is to bring recognition and awareness to outstanding artists in the early phases of their careers. These artists may have received public recognition already, but are considered relative newcomers to their field (i.e., less than five years in their field). This is a $5,000 cash award, with funds intended to support and encourage artistic work of up-and-coming artists. The award will be presented to the recipient at an event celebrating the arts in 2022. This award is sponsored by RBC and is a legacy project of Calgary 2012, Calgary’s year as a Cultural Capital of Canada. About RBC RBC is a leader of investment in youth and arts in our communities. RBC knows that when you believe in young people, anything is possible. That is why they have continued to support programs that give youth the opportunities they need to succeed.
