Grant Investment Programs
Calgary Arts Development is pleased to announce the 2021 community investment programs for arts organizations, individual artists, and artist collectives practicing and operating in Calgary (known as Mohkinsstsis in Blackfoot).
Calgary Arts Development programs are assessed by peer committees of artists and artistic community members. If you are interested in serving as a peer assessor, or would like to nominate someone, complete the assessor nomination form.
Arts Organizations
Organizations receiving Operating Grants are confirmed until the end of 2022 with the submission of annual interim reporting by March 1, 2021, pending continued funding by The City of Calgary at current budget levels. This program will not be open to new clients.
A one-time Project Grant for Organizations will run through the summer, with results available in early September. This program will be open to registered non-profit arts organizations and Operating Grant clients. Full program guidelines will be published in May.
The Cultural Activation Fund program is intended to activate and amplify arts initiatives and organizations that are aligned with City and Civic Partner strategies. A new program intended to support organizations through merger and closure work is in development. Details about these programs will be published in early 2021.
Indigenous Artists & Arts Organizations
The Original Peoples Investment Program opens on March 15, 2021, with a deadline of April 19, 2021. Results will be available by early June. Full program guidelines will be published by the end of February. This program is open to First Nations/Métis/Inuit (FMNI) artists and collectives and FNMI-led and FNMI-centred organizations practicing/operating in the Treaty 7 Calgary region, working in any artistic discipline.
Individual Artists & Artist Collectives
Through a donation from the Calgary Arts Foundation’s Cultural Vitality Fund, we are launching a new program for individual artists. The Artist Development Microgrant is intended to invest in professional or business development opportunities for artists impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will open on January 11, 2021 and applications will be assessed on a rolling basis until February 16, 2021. Results will be available by early March.
The Project Grant for Individuals and Collectives will run through summer, with results available in late August. This program will be open to individual artists and artist collectives. Full program guidelines will be published in April.
Calgary Arts Development grant investment programs for individual artists and artist collectives are supplemented through the Cultural Vitality Fund, with donations from Calgary Arts Foundation, Calgary Foundation, an anonymous donor to the Edmonton Community Foundation, RBC, and the Palmer Family Foundation. We thank these donors for their generous support.
