Grant Investment Programs: Announcement
Calgary Arts Development is the city’s designated arts development agency, stewarding public dollars for the public good. Our grant investment programs support artists and arts organizations for the benefit of all Calgarians.
We received a funding increase for 2023 – 2026 from The City of Calgary. The additional funds will be used to contribute to a more vibrant downtown, activate the creative economy strategy and support grant investment programs. Calgary Arts Development’s four-year strategic framework aligns with City of Calgary priorities as well as with many other City and civic partner strategies.

Virtual Town Hall

Grants to Arts Organizations
Organizations that received a grant through the Operating Grant Program for 2020 – 2022 will apply for the next two-year grant cycle for 2023 – 2024. Applications are due March 1, 2023. Grantees are eligible for their current grant amount in addition to a formula-based increase.
The Operating Grant Program reopens to new applicants for the 2023 – 2024 cycle. Applications will be accepted through the Operating Grant New Client Intake Program in spring and summer.
The Project Grant for Organizations is open to non-profit arts organizations, and will run through fall and winter. Program guidelines will be published in late June, and the program will open to applications in early July.
The Future Focus Program has its last intake for the 2022 year on February 6, 2023. Once that intake is complete, the program will be closed for evaluation and is expected to reopen to applications later in the year.

Grants to Individual Artists and Artist Collectives
The Project Grant for Individuals and Collectives will run through the spring, with grant notifications expected in early summer. Program guidelines will be published in early March, and will be open to applications in mid-March.
The Artist Development Microgrant program is intended to provide support for professional and business development activities. Applications will be accepted in two intakes through the year, with the first intake opening in February. Program guidelines will be published in mid-February.

Grants to Indigenous Artists, Collectives and Organizations
The Honouring the Children program will continue in 2023. Applications to this program are accepted on an ongoing basis, and there is no deadline to apply. This program is specifically for Indigenous artists or Indigenous arts organizations who live and work on Treaty 7 territory, and supports artistic projects responding to, honouring or in memory of the loss of life, culture, ceremony and language amongst the original peoples of this land because of the residential school system. This program runs on an ongoing basis, and updated guidelines for 2023 will be published at the beginning of February.
The Indigenous Artist Microgrant is intended to support Indigenous artists living and working in the Treaty 7 region for activities and expenses related to the preservation of Indigenous culture and tradition. This program runs on an ongoing basis, and updated guidelines for 2023 will be published at the beginning of February.
The Original Peoples Investment Program will run in fall and winter. Program guidelines will be published in May, and the program will open to applications in June. This program is intended to support art-based projects that are supported and validated by Indigenous artists, community, Elders and Knowledge Keepers. We recognize and support both traditional and contemporary Indigenous artists and arts practices.
