Program Overview

The Operating Grant Program provides stable, predictable funding to non-profit arts organizations in Calgary (known as Mohkinsstsis in Blackfoot). Operating Grant funds may be allocated to any area of an arts organization’s budget.

In 2025 the Operating Grant is open to grantees who received funding in 2024. Grant amounts for 2025 will be released on submission of a final report for the 2024 granting year.

The Operating Grant will reopen to applications for the 2026 granting year in the fall of 2025. The application will be open to current and prospective grantees, and will set multi-year funding for a minimum of 2 years. Full program guidelines and information about the application and assessment process will be published no later than August 2025, and application deadline will be no later than October 2025. Current and prospective grantees with questions about the timeline or process may reach out to grants@calgaryartsdevelopment.com with questions.

Final Reporting for 2024 Grantees and 2025 Funding

Existing grantees will receive their 2025 operating grant after the successful completion and review of an interim report due February 19, 2025. The report will be assigned to applicants in the grant interface, and the primary contact listed in the organization profile will receive a notification when it is assigned. If the contact information for your organization has changed, please notify grants@calgaryartsdevelopment.com as soon as possible to ensure the report is assigned to the correct person.

Program staff will review reports for accuracy. Organizations will be required to complete corrections before funding is released. Reporting is governed by the Fair Notice Policy, and financials will be reviewed according to the risk assessment outlined in the policy. Organizations who receive a financial flag will be asked to meet with program staff before funding is released.

Grantees will be sent an investment agreement via Docusign for their 2025 operating grant amount once their report has been reviewed and approved and are required to sign and return the agreement within 30 days of receiving it in order to receive funding.
