Nominate Calgary’s Next Poet Laureate
Join us in celebrating the vibrant literary talent in Calgary by nominating a deserving individual for the prestigious role of Calgary Poet Laureate for 2026 to 2028. Nominations are open from January 13 to February 13, 2026. Self-nominations are accepted. The selected candidate will be announced during National Poetry Month in April 2026.
Established on July 26, 2011, the Poet Laureate position is a testament to our city’s commitment to the arts, supported by dedicated Calgary Poet Laureate Ambassadors including the Calgary Foundation and the Calgary Public Library.
Administered by Calgary Arts Development in collaboration with a volunteer selection committee, each Calgary Poet Laureate serves a two-year term. This artistic ambassador role involves presenting at civic events and creating literary works that capture the essence of our city and its diverse citizens.
